Rockies to Help Coolbaugh's Widow

"Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world." James 1:27, ESV

The Colorado Rockies are known for having a number of Christian players and coaches in their organization. Recently, they did something that nearly moved their GM, Dan O'Dowd, to tears. They voted to give Amanda Coolbaugh a full share of the team's playoff winnings. Amanda is the widow of Mike Coolbaugh who was a first base coach for the Tulsa Drillers in the Rockies organization until he was killed in July when a line drive hit him in the head.

Amanda already has two children to raise and she is pregnant with a third. I don't know how much this gift will amount to, but I'm guessing that it'll go a long way toward helping the Coolbaugh family.

Frost National Bank and Spirit Bank are also accepting donations that will go to the Coolbaugh family. I called both banks back in July when the accident happened to confirm that they were indeed accepting donations and they said they were. Here's their info if you'd like to make a donation:

In August 2006, I had the chance to see Mike Coolbaugh play for the Omaha Royals. I took a snapshot of the scoreboard that day, and in honor of Mike, here's the picture:
